One of the insurances many employee leasing companies / PEOs are providing to their clients in today’s lawsuit-happy world is EPLI coverage. When your business is protected with EPLI you are covered from a variety of claims, including:
· Sexual harassment
· Wrongful termination
· Discrimination
· Slander and Defamation
You’ve probably heard about large Employment Practices Liability cases on the news, which many times have reached well over a million dollars. The EPLI covers costs related to defense expenses, judgments and settlements- even back pay.
It’s important to ask what the per-occurrence deductible and maximum limits are, as they can vary by company. A common deductible can range between $10,000 and $25,000 with a $1 million limit of liability per occurrence.
If you have questions about EPLI coverage, call us. We can be reached at 1-888-582-8388.

In most states, small business employers have the option of buying their workers’ compensation insurance from an employee leasing or private insurance company. This is often referred to as the “voluntary” market for workers’ comp.
However, workers’ compensation insurance is available only through a state-run fund in six states - Nevada, North Dakota, Ohio, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming - creating a virtual monopoly. If your small business is located in one of these six states, you have no choice but to buy your policy from the government-run fund.
Thirteen other states operate government-run funds that compete with employee leasing companies and private insurers; you have the option of going to either. They are: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Some limited opportunities do exist for employee leasing services in monopolistic states, so contact us if you’re interested in the services of employee leasing.
