Code 0106 For Arborist

Published by admin under workers compensation

Over the years, we’ve helped dozens of Arborist and tree service professionals nationwide save on work comp premiums with an employee leasing service. Many times the request is to place the “ground employees” in a landscaping classification (code 0042) – obviously to reduce the higher work comp rate of code 0106.

The landscaping code is not applicable for the ground employees in this situation. Here is the 0106 classification description as written by National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI).

Code 0106 applies to specialist contractors who use hand tools or mechanical equipment to prune, spray, repair, trim, or fumigate trees. Code 0106 is applied to risks that perform one or more of the aforementioned activities. These operations may be performed from ground level or by climbing the tree, or may require the use of ladders and/or aerial buckets.

The removal, chipping, cleanup, and haul away of tree limbs and debris are also assigned to Code 0106.

Repair operations may involve cutting large, uprooted trees into manageable pieces for removal and/or pulling trees upright. Code 0106 additionally includes incidental tree removal of one or a few trees on developed sites conducted in connection with the described operations.

Employee Leasing Services Help You Remain Focused During Difficult Times

Published by admin under business solutions, outsourcing

Running a business these days is tough. But when you think about (which I’m sure you have over some sleepless nights) you can only control so much. For me, there are two basic areas that I consider as my starting point and build my priority list off of almost everyday - time management and my cost of doing business.

Right now, I have to be spending time with current clients, interacting with prospective new customers and marketing my business – this has to come first! Almost daily, I’m asking myself these questions: How can I streamline the work that takes me away from doing things that will create business? Who can help me do some of the things that I know are wasting chunks of my day? And how much more business could I create if I outsourced these particular tasks – and what would my return on that investment be?

When I think about my costs of doing business, like everyone else – what isn’t fair game to consider right now? Phone services, insurances, office supplies, marketing and shipping costs are just a few ways to keep costs under control. And to me – everything is negotiable since everyone is feeling the pinch.

It’s so easy to feel overwhelmed but these two focal points help me build my schedule around the things that really matter and keep me focused on moving forward. I realize to most that this a “duh” statement, but I use this common sense example because this is exactly why employee leasing/peo services were originated almost 30 years ago. Controlling the costs of doing business and giving you more time to do what you do best isn’t a slogan, it’s a growing service called employee leasing - that business owners in all 50 states are taking advantage of. Call and see if your business could benefit.

Bad Time for Bad PEO Customer Service

Published by admin under business solutions

I just finished a road trip and spoke with a number of clients, and their PEO customer service was a topic of discussion a number of times. One of the stories was a complaint about a payroll tech consistently being abrasive,  another was regarding fear of the PEO potentially closing down!

That client expressed regular change in personnel and sloppy handling of requests. He said he’s even noticed a change in voice tone and overall vibe from his favorite go-to guy, who has confided in him about some of the internal changes.

Of course, business isn’t booming right now- but the one area of your business you can control is customer service. Customers are in no mood to deal with a service provider who can’t be polite or handle simple requests that they’re paying for.

In fact, one of the last visits I had on my trip was with an employer who I moved from one PEO to another a year ago- simply because of customer service. He couldn’t praise the new PEO’s employees and staff enough- “What a great group of people!” he said. “The old employee leasing company had my stomach in knots every time I had to call.”

Imagine paying someone to feel that way.

My father always told me customers are easier to keep than they are to get, so when you have them- take care of them! If you own a PEO and aren’t running your business with those beliefs, my guess is you won’t be running your business much longer.

Arborists: Looking for a Secret Weapon for Success? Try an Employee Leasing Company

Those who own a successful tree service business are smart, tough, patient, hard working, multi-tasking individuals who are used to improvising on a moment’s notice.

Those who aren’t all those things probably aren’t very successful at owning and managing a tree service business.

In a highly competitive, dangerous profession that can sometimes feel like an endless Easter egg hunt for quality employees, dealing with payroll and insurance issues is just a frustrating (but necessary) waste of time.

What continues to separate the profitable, successful tree service companies from the rest is the use of employee leasing services.

The reasons why? Let’s start with workers’ compensation insurance. Arborist and tree service companies across the country pay some of the highest workers’ compensation rates of any industry. Employers in Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Mississippi pay extremely high rates.

An employee leasing company buys workers’ compensation for thousands of employees, which reduces the overall rate compared to purchasing an individual policy. While a rate reduction has little effect on a clerical employee, there can be dramatic differences on the costs for employers in the tree service business.

For example, let’s say you own a small tree service business in Georgia. You have 5 employees with an annual payroll of $130,000. The state rate for climbers and ground employees is $39.28 per hundred dollars in payroll. This would make your annual premium $51,064.

An employee leasing company that specializes in the tree service industry could potentially save your business up to 20% off the state rate. The annual premium would be a dramatic reduction at $40,846 – an annual savings of over $10,000. Some of the other benefits employers receive are no down payments or deposits and no annual expense constant (money that goes to the state).

An employee leasing company will allow you to concentrate on building and expanding your business while controlling your administrative costs. How much your company saves depends on your current situation.

The benefits of an employee leasing company in the tree service industry enable small business owners to outbid and outwork their competition.

When you’re ready to obtain multiple employee leasing quotes for your business, let us do the work for you. With over 1000 PEO/employee leasing companies that service different markets, states and industries, there may be only a handful that truly fit the needs of your small business.

The power of multiple employee leasing companies competing for your tree service business saves you time and money! Our price and service guarantee eliminates the hassle of interviewing endless salespeople.

What Are People Saying about PEO / Employee Leasing Services?

“Employee leasing is a fast growing opportunity, growing by over 20% per year. It’s a way to outsource not only the employee contingent of the business, but generally the organizational aspect of employees. Most employee leasing groups handle all the Human Resources function for the funds expended.”

Alan Guinn: “Don’t Just Survive: Help Your Business Thrive in 2008” – American Chronicle – 1/9/08

“…PEOs are taking a larger share of the market traditionally held by local insurance agents and other business advisors. PEOs enjoyed gross revenues of $61 billion in 2007 and are growing at a rate of 20 percent per year. They are snatching up the traditional workers’ compensation and employee benefits market because they offer a one-stop shop for employers short on time.”

U.S. Insurance News – 5/30/08

“We also recognize that employees of a legitimate employee leasing company have access to better benefits packages, delivered economically.”

Internal Revenue Service.

“How much money are you making when your employees are working on HR or benefits or workers’ comp claims? The answer is zero,” Mapes said. “PEOs get their employees’ time back, so they can work on business-related items. It instantly makes the company more efficient.”

Choosing right PEO lets companies concentrate on business

Kansas City Business Journal - by Tammy Worth Contributing Writer 5/26/06

“Why will so many go to work for PEO companies? Simply, it’s because many small-company owners are tired of being distracted with human resources headaches such as workers’ compensation, family and medical leave laws, and discrimination lawsuits.”

Del Jones, USA Today, “Leasing Workers Eases Load for Small Companies,” 5/20/97.

“Analysts believe that with total payroll dollars of about $18 billion nationwide, employee leasing has tapped barely 2% of its potential market. They expect the industry to increase revenues and earnings by 30% a year for up to the next 10 years.”

David Medina, Crain’s New York Business, “Employee Leasing Firms’ New Lease on Life,” 6/9/97

A Down Time is a Great Time to Ask Questions About Employee Leasing Services!

Published by admin under employee leasing

If business isn’t exactly booming for you right now, it’s the perfect opportunity to spend some time looking at expenses and how to tighten things up. Let’s face it- when business is good and you’re really busy, the last chore you want at the end of a long day is to compare proposals for services and make changes.

It’s always a punch to the gut to see how much money is actually being spent on things like health insurance, cell phones and other business expenses. With our economy in a downturn, now is a great time to be negotiating almost everything your business requires to run efficiently.

I saw an example of this recently while visiting with a contractor in the plumbing industry. He runs a large company, but over the last year his business has dropped dramatically. He was using employee leasing services but had his group health insurance separately through a local agency.

We looked at future issues to consider and developed some options that created great results. By changing to a new employee leasing company that specialized in benefit options, he was able to save over $13,000 a year on health insurance! Better yet, the new employee leasing company offered a safety incentive program that gave him an opportunity to earn another $10,000 back on worker’s compensation premiums.

His company is likely to see even more long-term savings because the new employee leasing company’s average yearly health insurance rate increase is around 7%- less than half the national average!

If we can help you analyze your overall employee related expenses, please give Employee Leasing Quotes a call. Our information is free and helpful. We can be reached at 1-888-582-8388.

Where Would The Construction Industry be Without Employee Leasing?

Published by admin under business solutions

Employee Leasing services offer a co-employer relationship with a business owner to share certain responsibilities. The employer continues to handle the day-to-day activities of the employees, while the Leasing Company manages the time-consuming and complex issues of Workers’ Compensation, employee benefits, HR, and payroll. In other words, you do exactly what you got into business to do, and outsource the garbage work (that’s still just as critical)-to someone else!

Over the past decade the Employee Leasing industry has been growing at a rate of over 30% a year- and according to the U.S. Dept. of Labor by the year 2020, more than half of all American employees will be employed by Employee Leasing Companies!

Employee Leasing services have dramatically increased the number of subcontractors. More competition has helped keep building costs down, and makes new construction an attractive opportunity for buyers. Obviously, interest rates and other factors play a part in the process, but as you read on and look at the benefits and success of Employee Leasing, the link from one industry to the other has had a positive effect for many.

Contractors specifically have been flocking to Employee Leasing Companies for 3 main reasons:
• Workers’ Compensation costs- The insurance industry makes it virtually impossible for a small start-up to mid-sized contractor to obtain Workers’ Compensation coverage- even though it’s required by law in every state (except Texas)! Employee Leasing Companies provide coverage for the smallest of businesses, with very little or no up-front fees and deposits.

• Benefits- Smaller businesses also need access to more affordable, comprehensive employee benefits to compete for talented employees. Employee Leasing Companies allow access to an array of benefits that may otherwise be difficult to obtain.

• Less Paperwork and Liability- With over 50 employment-related governmental regulations, small and mid-sized businesses need help. The majority of businesses don’t have comptrollers, controllers, lawyers and accountants on staff! Employee Leasing Companies reduce the time and cost process substantially by handling hundreds of payrolls for companies and buying Workers’ Compensation for thousands of employees!

Did You Know? The average small business owner spends up to 25%  of his or her time handling employee-related paperwork (U.S. Business Administration) and 1 out of every 3 businesses pay fines and penalties on payroll taxes (I.R.S)!

Employee Leasing services have given employees the opportunity to become employers and be competitive right away by providing affordable, comprehensive solutions to managing a business. When a business owner can handle payroll, Workers’ Compensation and benefit issues on a cell phone at the job site in just minutes per week, you can see why Employee Leasing services are growing so fast!
